What are your business’ social tendencies?
If you post excessively during the evening with a hard sell, you may want to consider adopting these social media practices.
Quality over Quantity
Make sure you’re giving your audience information they want – whether it’s humorous, factual, news-y or congratulatory, make sure you target your posts to your audience. You should post about 3-5 times a day. Any less and you’re not engaging your audience enough; any more and you’re clogging their news feed.
Day over Night
Studies have shown that the peak hours for social media interaction are between 9am and 5pm. Post during those hours AND don’t stop your efforts during the weekend.
Soft Sell over Hard Sell
When it comes to Social Media, you want to refrain from pushing a sale. Your audience is using social media for SOCIAL purposes. Although posting the latest specials or exciting new offers can be effective, you’ll want to stay away from too much “business”. Most people are looking for fun, informative posts. They’ll like your page if they see value but the hard sell will deter most visitors.
Employee Pictures over Office Pictures
Posting pictures of your employees during an event, a team lunch, or any such office antics shows there are people behind your brand. When you show that yes, indeed, you are human, your followers are more apt to engage with you. An office picture is nice, but an employee picture is even nicer. An employee enjoying themselves at the office? Nicest.
Multiple Users over One User
Different users add variety and perspective. You may want to rethink your strategy if you’ve dumped all Social Media tasks on the lowly intern. How about asking the CEO to share his/her expertise? Just make sure whoever you choose is trustworthy and fully supports the vision of the company.
